Welcome from Head of Sixth Form
Life in Post 16 is unique; it forms a bridge between compulsory schooling and higher education or employment. Our class sizes are small and allow for the very best learning environments, coupled with the rigour and support which will see the centre grow from strength to strength. In Post 16 you will also be presented with many opportunities to develop your personal, social and employability skill, areas vital in helping you prepare you for life at university, apprenticeships or employment. Some students fear that school sixth forms limit individuality, however I take pride in the sixth form at Heanor Gate being a place where young people can flourish in their personal development whilst remaining on track through the rigour and support of an academically focused school system.
With over 5 years leading in sixth forms across Nottinghamshire, I am personally delighted to take on the leadership of Heanor Gate Sixth Form. I also feel privileged to work with students, staff, parents and governors who all expect the very best from our school. The curriculum we have in place at Key Stage 5 is largely academic and we pride ourselves on preparing our students for further study, whether that be at the top universities in the country or as part of higher level apprenticeships. Our close links with both Russell Group universities, and our involvement with the world of industry enables us to support every young person to achieve their potential. Our entry criteria of 5 higher level GCSE passes is challenging yet inclusive and the range of courses offered ensures that we actively promote 'positive progress for all', regardless of starting point.
We look forward to inviting you to Heanor Gate Sixth Form
