Welcome to Heanor Gate Sixth Form
It is with great excitement that I begin my new role as achievement leader for sixth form. The students who have worked with me in year 11 will know that I believe all students have the potential to achieve their best with the right support and guidance.
I have worked in education for 18 years and have been fortunate enough during that time to work in some of the best educational institutes in the world, developing curriculum with institutes at the forefront of educational reform. My roles have been diverse during this time, however, my relationships with staff and students have always been key to my drive to support them. I have also worked in one of the largest sixth forms in the country and feel our achievement team has all the keys to success that the students may need.
Our job as the achievement team is to ensure that all students have a multi-faceted approach to support. From their form tutor, teachers, the achievement team and family and friends this united group will ultimately ensure the student has the advice and guidance they may need. Our door is always open.
Students in sixth form are encouraged to be independent and pro-active learners, with the emphasis on the student taking responsibility for their own learning, developing the resilience and drive to succeed. We have an array of talented students within our sixth form who are exposed through our A level Mindset programme, tutor programme and assemblies to a vast number of opportunities. Students are encouraged to take risks and consider careers, university and higher level apprenticeships in many different ways, hopefully resulting in the student making the right choice for them. We actively promote and encourage ambition in all our students.
Whether you are a current or prospective student at Heanor Gate Sixth Form, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
